ASTROLOGY & the EVOLUTION

Of HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS

The Natural Approach Healing Centre

Moonee Ponds

$50.00 pp (Tea & Coffee included)

1pm - 4:30pm

We are fated to live in 'interesting times' that see human consciousness continually awakening to new levels of awareness. Astrology provides a lens for us to view these collective shifts and the accompanying personal 'awakenings' that are occurring for many. The cycles of the transpersonal planets, significant alignments and the discovery of new planets and bodies within our solar system offer us insights into these shifts and the challenges we are facing, personally and collectively. This seminar will explore some of the major astrological alignments that are part of these shifts - including the Cardinal Climax of 2009 - 2011 and the 'Ascension Process of 2012 - and suggest ways of understanding and working with the challenges they symbolise.

Bookings Required.

The Solar Eclipse on Australia's Sun in January played out very literally with awful floods along the eastern coast. Many homes, businesses and farms where 'eclipsed' or wiped out by the torrents of water that came from the run off after massive rainfall. At the time of writing this the waters in Queensland have receded but large parts of north west Victoria are under water or preparing to be under water. Australia was not the only nation to experience tragic floods last month: Brazil, South Africa, Mozambique and Sri Lanka all experienced severe flooding too. I don't have the horoscopes for these nations but I would expect the eclipse to have activated points in those nation's charts.

The New Moon in February at 13 [nearly 14] degrees Aquarius falls on February 3 at 1.30pm Eastern Standard Daylight Time here in Australia. The Aquarian New Moon marks New Year in the Chinese calendar and this year will be The Year of the Rabbit. The Rabbit is the fourth sign in the Chinese Zodiac and it is considered a lucky sign. People born in a Rabbit Year are said to be warm and friendly but needing space and privacy. A Rabbit Year is said to be one where you are advised to slow down and work things through. Negotiation rather than conflict is highlighted and will bring the best results.

I also discovered that the Rabbit is the symbol for the Moon [the Peacock is the Sun], so 2011 has a lunar feel, according to Chinese Astrology. It is an auspicious time to focus on home, family, children, security and the feminine principle. Creating a peaceful, harmonious home can provide the nourishment we need to calmly deal with life's challenges. Sounds good to me!

Western Astrology notes that this New Moon is conjunct Mars and trine Saturn. This is a very energizing image that can provide the boost we need to get moving for the year. It also suggests the potential for conflict as everyone is focused on achieving their own goals and not so willing to listen to others. The calming trine from Saturn should offset some of the aggression and provide some patience and stability. It is a good time to start something that requires energy, drive, focus, determination and perseverance.

Aquarius is a fixed air sign with a passion for freedom, democracy, reform and social justice while the shadow side of Aquarius can be fanatical, contrary and anarchistic. Aquarius sees the big picture and often feels called to question the status quo. Aquarius needs to find a constructive way to challenge authority that doesn't lead to alienation. The New Moon in Aquarius invites us to reflect on how we experience the Aquarian Archetype and as. Aquarius rules friends and groups of like minded people, this is a good time to join a group and reflect on friendships and group / community involvements.

The Full Moon on February 18 is at the final degree of Leo and opposes the Sun, Neptune, Mars and Mercury in Aquarius and Chiron in Pisces.

This Full Moon once more brings the Chiron / Neptune conjunction of 2009 - 2010 back into focus as it is re-energized by both the Full Moon and a conjunction from Mars. This alignment symbolizes a complex and multi-layered phenomenon that will operate on many levels and can take many forms, both positive and negative. Much has already been written about this alignment and the potential for spiritual [Neptune] healing [Chiron]. The gifts of insight, healing, compassion and love [Neptune rules Divine Love] will come to those who are willing to face their wounds [Chiron] and grow through this process. This is one of the most potent healing configurations possible, especially for those consciously working to raise their vibrations and release their fear.

This full moon is an auspicious time for meditating on old wounds that may be reactivated around this time. See what happens if you can surrender your ego, open your heart and open to the possibility of healing and forgiveness.

Chiron often re-opens old wounds to allow the healing of 'unfinished business', especially around rejection and alienation and Neptune can sensitize our wounds to facilitate this process. The danger here is to fall into the victim archetype and miss the potential for healing and growth. Chiron always works homeopathically and presents us with a little bit of the old toxin so we can integrate it and move beyond the old pattern. We are being called to let go our wounds and see the BIGGER PICTURE, personally and individually.

Neptune enhances our connection with the greater whole and allows us access to what is normally hidden or veiled. It may be possible to catch a glimpse of the 'Divine Plan' if we sit quietly and believe it is possible. As the higher octave of Venus, Neptune rules our connection with Spirit and Divine Love. My sense is that this alignment is calling us all to come into our hearts and find new ways of relating that transcend the limitations of race, religion, ethnicity etc.

The shadow side of this transit can occur on many levels including:

  • Falling into the Chironic abyss and become overwhelmed by feelings of PAIN, ALIENATION AND REJECTION.
  • Getting lost in the shadow side of Neptune and falling prey to our illusions and delusions. We may choose to escape into addictive and self destructive patterns rather than deal with any pain that emerges.

On February 26 Jupiter squares Pluto, re-energizing the Cardinal Cross that peaked last July / August. This is the final of three exact square aspects [the other two occurred in July and August 2010] between these two planets and marks the first crisis point after the current Jupiter/Pluto Cycle began in 2007. 2007 marks the beginning of the current global financial crisis that was partly triggered by the collapse of the sub prime housing market in the US in that year [2007]. The bubble began to burst and it gathered momentum in 2008. Jupiter, the Principle of Expansion, had reached its limit in the heady energy of Sagittarius and during 2008 when both Jupiter and Pluto entered Capricorn the day of reckoning came.

This square marks a crisis point in this process and may reveal some more limits being reached. As Jupiter in freedom loving Aries comes into hard aspect with Pluto in Capricorn, the sign of contraction and down to earth practicality and reality there may be more conflict/tension in the political and economic spheres as well as within all of us. Many people are hoping things will return to 'business as usual' and have not made the ruthless re-evaluation and restructuring that Pluto in Capricorn demands.

On both personal and collective levels Jupiter can energize Pluto in Capricorn and there are a number of dangers here. One is to disregard the Capricorn need for caution, stability and hard work and impulsively move towards the negative Jupiter; impulsive action and a desire to believe in miracles that are not founded on solid inner foundations. Another danger is sinking into Capricorn depression, negativity and judgement or allowing ourselves to be drawn into major ego-based power struggles.

Constructively channelled the square between Jupiter and Pluto calls for cautious optimism that is grounded in reality… with a bit of hard work and self discipline to make it all happen.

May the Goddess Bless You
